KIRKEE MEMORIAL
Private James Daly was shot at Dagshai Prison at 5.45am on 02/11/1920. His body was placed in a coffin and buried within 30 minutes of his execution. Originally buried in Dagshai Cemetery, plot number 340, he was repatriated back to Ireland in 1970 whereas he was given a funeral with full military honours and re-interred at Tyrellspass, Co Westmeath. He was the last member of the British Armed Forces to be executed for a military crime.
